New Ears is a series of educational events for young audiences focused on sound art and contemporary music. We target students in artistic fields as well as children and young people who have not previously had the opportunity to engage with contemporary musical and sound art expressions.

New Ears: Membranes. Strings. Tubes. A DIY instrument-making workshop for kids and teens.

New Ears: Gesture. Text. Sound. Workshop on sound poetry. The workshop is based on the scores and poems of Milan Adamčiak.

New Ears: Creative Musical Approaches for Children. A contemporary music workshop for children and youth, inspired by Milan Adamčiak, using the original instrument Zvukodrom.

New Ears: The Soundscape Around Us. An artistic-educational program focused on acoustic ecology for primary school-aged children. Children will experience their first soundwalk, learn to create simple sound objects and record sounds graphically. They will also learn how sounds affect our mental and physical health and how they can be used in art, culture, or science. Instructors and artists: Eva Vozárová, Fero Király.

New Ears: Sitting in a Room. An artistic-educational program exploring the intersection of technology and art from past to present. Through examples of classical works by renowned composers to contemporary artistic creation by artists such as Alvin Lucier and John Cage, students will learn what sound art is, how it connects theory and practice, and how modern technologies are used in this field.

New Ears: Minimal Music. An artistic-educational program offering students insight into minimal music, which has significantly influenced 20th-century music. Its most famous representatives include world-renowned composers such as Steve Reich and Philip Glass. The program includes an artistic segment – a concert performance of selected pieces by Philip Glass performed by artist Fero Király directly at the school, a collaborative realization of Clapping Music by Steve Reich performed by instructors and students, and a lecture with discussion.

New Ears:  Pict–o–sound. A workshop on elementary music composition for children, focused on creating graphic scores and exploring the sound material around us. It includes creative composition games and discussions.

New Ears: Acoustic Ecology and Creative Music Programming. A workshop for teachers at primary art schools (ZUŠ) and conservatories, focused on musical creativity and developing sensitivity to sound environments. Participants will explore concepts of acoustic ecology, soundscapes, and the open-source programming language Sonic Pi, which has been a mandatory part of the school curriculum in the UK since 2014. No prior programming knowledge is required.

Target group: teachers at primary art schools (ZUŠ) and conservatories.

New Ears: Creative Listening and Music Programming. Why does the city hum so much, and how can we compose a sonata from its sounds? An interactive course focused on musical creativity, live coding, and sensitivity to the sounds around us. You will experience a soundwalk, learn how to record sounds, and process them into a sound composition using the Sonic Pi programming language.
