When does music become an object? Is music also hidden in our minds, buildings, deeds and actions?

We invite you to explore and experience during the second expedition of uúú and pssst in search of contemporary music, when an instrument/artist becomes an object, or when an object becomes an instrument – whether musical, sound, performative, action. A series of ten performances, concerts, sound and video installations, composed conversations, or, in the end, one curated view of the possibilities of music and sound art.

We will show how the building of the former Baťa factory can resonate and how we can listen to it, or that even a trip to Partizánske is music. A deep, light-hearted dive into the contemporary interpretation of the subject that is the object. Or vice versa? úúú and pssst are trying, and you should try not to miss the half-time of decay, or in our case, the half-time of connection.

úúú is a space for cultivating (not only) sonic sensitivity in the age of the sixth mass extinction. It presents sound performances, interventions, installations, workshops, lectures, and discussions – all inviting us to listen to the Loud New World. It calls for quieting down, for delighting in sonic subtleties, and for seeking new paths out of today’s crises. Our attention turns to everything from the rumble of the highway overpass and the mole’s soft burrowing beneath the soil to the echoes of deserted factory halls and the wind brushing against the castle rock in Trenčín.

pssst is a series of concert events dedicated to contemporary and experimental music, presented by artists who uncompromisingly explore the peripheries of musical thinking. We live in a time of the greatest musical, compositional, and instrumental diversity in history. So:

How many ways are there to play the guitar? How far can the boundaries of experiment and improvisation reach? Where do we go from the European tradition – from grand concert halls and the triadic order?

Through the interweaving of úúú and pssst, we create a space of imagination, a place to envision what we want to listen to, what we are able to hear, what we would rather not hear, and what we must not overlook; what we say, what others say, how they say it, and why.
Info and transport

The event takes place in the former Baťa factory building – the oldest five-storey structure in the complex, recently purchased by the organization Fabrika umenia, which plans to transform it into a cultural centre. The building remains in its raw, pre-renovation state, which brings certain limitations:

We recommend wearing warm clothing as the space cannot be heated.

Attendance is at your own risk. By participating in the event, you acknowledge and accept this condition.

Free parking is available on site. Please do not park directly in front of the Fabrika 61 building. Follow the parking directions provided on site.

We recommend arriving by public transport or using assisted transport – the bus provided by the ooo collective. The event schedule is coordinated with public transport connections from and to Trenčín and Bratislava. More information about transport can be found below.

Refreshments:
Food and drinks will be provided by Fabrika 61 and Lajf is Burger. Please note that there is no drinking water available on site – only bottled water and beverages served.

GDPR:
Photo and video documentation will be made during the event and may be published later.

Accompanying programme:
As part of the event, a charity shoe bazaar featuring footwear once produced in the factory will be held to support the Fabrika 61 initiative. The evening will also include the opening of the exhibition Unknown Horizons by photographer Vanda Mesiariková, organized by Fabrika 61. The exhibition opening will take place after the official úúú x pssst: OBJEKT programme, at 7:15 pm.

TRANSPORT

ooo provides bus transport for holders of BUS REGISTRATIONS on the route Trenčín – Partizánske and back. The service connects conveniently to trains from/to Bratislava and other cities, and is designed so that your journey will be short yet beautiful. Buses will depart from Trenčín (near the bus station – the exact location will be confirmed after registration) and from Partizánske (in front of the factory). There will be singing and a bit of Stockhausen rehearsal on board. We’ll also screen Crash and Burn, but the bus will move faster than the film so you won’t get to see the ending.

To help cover transport costs, we kindly ask for a voluntary contribution (€7) in cash at the venue. This is not a ticket sale, the contribution simply supports travel expenses.

Your reservation covers both directions (Trenčín – Partizánske and Partizánske – Trenčín).
Capacity is limited to the number of seats available. Wait too long, and you’ll be left behind.

Trenčín – Partizánske: departure 11:45 am
Partizánske – Trenčín: departure 8:00 pm

You’ll make it in time for the last connecting trains from Trenčín:
To Bratislava: 9:24 pm, 9:41 pm, 10:24 pm
To Žilina: 9:38 pm, 9:53 pm, 00:24 am

All colors of the rainbow are welcome. No hate speech.
Enter the event at your own risk.

The ooo collective was founded in the spring of 2020 out of a need to create space for exploring the world through sound, contemporary music, and intermedia art. Its founding members are musician, educator, and intermedia artist Fero Király, and dramaturge, cultural manager, and performer Eva Vozárová. The collective’s artistic and curatorial focus lies in projects that delve into the complex relationships between human and non-human beings, embracing the fields of acoustic ecology, deep listening, environmental and social issues, as well as disciplines such as anthropology, philosophy, mathematics, and other branches of knowledge. ooo favours considerate artistic interventions.
